The date chosen is June 20 and not June 21 (the effective date of the solstice), but in reality this celebration often began on the night of June 20.
Since the dawn of time, people have celebrated the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, when the power of nature is at its peak, just like the Sun God.
It is Litha among the Celts, or Tantad in Breton.
It is a feast of rejoicing, rebirth and fertility.
